I love snow. I love the way it shines in the sun, the smell of the fresh air, and the cool breeze on my face. I love being in the mountains, and snow just adds to the beauty. Being from Arizona, I get to see the snow once in a blue moon. And every winter, I beg everyone I know, "Please, just take me to the snow." So, as break is wrapping up, my dear boyfriend fulfills yet another dream of mine, and takes me to a happy place.
Summerhaven is a small town on the top of Mt.Lemmon that my family and I used to visit all the time. We had a family cabin up there, but six years ago, a fire hit and burned down a significant part of the mountain, including our beloved cabin. Tyler and I drove around for quite some time, trying to find that piece of land that once included that cabin. A lot of the mountain is growing back to it's full beauty, but a huge part of it is still damaged from the fire. It is so sad, yet so evident that there is beauty everywhere. I really wanted to go back to that old cabin, and poor Tyler, we tried forever, bless his heart, but my memory with directions is not so good. Eventually, a precious old man directed us to a wonderful place to hike. So we surrendered, and boy, was I lucky we ran into him.
We walked for a while, in what I know to be a winter wonderland. Snow all around, trees, a creek, and my favorite boy. Between all that, the snowman, snowball fights, and ice skating down hills, my heart was overflowing with joy.
I praise God for his art work, in every rock, every snow flake, and everything else in this world.
